Statement of Purpose

Statement of Purpose

When I started the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Leadership (LEPSL) program with the University of San Diego, I was apprehensive of my ability to learn, especially at a Masters degree level. But as the great philosopher Seneca said “There is no one more foolish than the one who stops learning.”

As a law enforcement leader, my purpose is to ensure the safety and security of the community I serve as well as provide an example for the members of my department. I am committed to upholding the law and protecting the rights of all individuals, while fostering an environment of trust and respect between law enforcement and the community.

My leadership style is one of transparency and collaboration. I believe in working closely with community leaders, stakeholders, and other law enforcement officers in my agency to develop effective strategies for crime prevention and response. I understand the importance of building strong relationships with community members, and I am committed to actively engaging with them to address their concerns and needs.

In addition to community engagement, I am dedicated to ensuring that my department is well-trained and equipped to handle any situation that may arise. I believe in providing ongoing training and professional development opportunities for my officers, as well as investing in the latest technology and equipment to support their efforts.

As a law enforcement leader, I recognize the importance of diversity and inclusion. I am committed to promoting diversity within my department and fostering an environment that values and respects all individuals, regardless of their background or beliefs. I believe that a diverse and inclusive department is better equipped to serve the needs of the community and build trust with its members.

Above all, my ultimate goal as a law enforcement leader is to create a safe and secure community where all individuals can thrive. I am committed to working tirelessly to achieve this goal, and I am confident that, with the support of my officers and the community, we can make a positive impact on the lives of those we serve.

The goal of this portfolio is to showcase the previous decade of learning and education that I chose to embark on to provide the best for the community I serve as well as the officers I have been chosen to lead.
